Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions on this page.

Where do I buy and/or read Beyond Cloud Nine and/or Beyond the Horizon?

You can find both books on Amazon in e-book or trade paperback format:
Beyond Cloud Nine (Beyond Saga Book 1): Buy BC9 on Amazon
Beyond the Horizon (Beyond Saga Book 2): Buy BTH on Amazon

I also run book giveaways on Goodreads quite frequently and occassionally also on LibraryThing. Check the home page for a list of current giveaways that you can enter for a chance to win one of my books.

I've finished reading Beyond the Horizon, and I'm hungry for more! When will the next book be released?

I'm currently working on Beyond Yesterday (Beyond Saga Book 3). Right now, a very rough estimate is that BYD will be released early-to-mid 2017. Beyond Existence (Beyond Saga Book 4) will follow within another 1-2 years. To learn more about the other books in the Beyond Saga, head to beyondsaga.com and navigate around this website.

After the Beyond Saga, I plan to work on and publish Destalis, the unofficial sequel to the Beyond Saga set several thousand years in the future, either as a standalone book or as a series. I haven't decided on that yet. I also have plans to work on series of sci-fi comedy short stories called Bears in Space and polish another short story, Goodbye, Mars. So much to do, so little time!

Do you also write Fantasy?

The short answer to this question is no.

The long answer is that it depends on your definition of science fiction versus fantasy. There is no hard-and-fast distinction between the two genres, which is why they get grouped together so readily. But according to my personal definitions, there are HUGE differences between each one.

Science fiction is rooted in science (imagine that). Sci-fi covers anything that could happen or exist. Faster-than-light speed travel? Theoretically possible. Aliens? Statistically probable given the size of the universe and the recent discovery of numerous exoplanets within the habitable regions of stars. Brain implants allowing a person to control an artificial limb with their mind? Already a reality.

Conversely, fantasy contains unsubstantiated supernatural plot elements. Fantasy authors include extraordinary aspects within a story without explanation, leaving the reader to blindly accept that these things just exist within the context of the story. Things like magic, spirits, vampires, werewolfs, and zombies have never existed, don't exist now, and won't ever exist. If any of these things do enter the realm of reality someday, it will be because science develops them. That's not to say I won't include typical fantasy elements in my work. I actually have a concept on the drawing board for an epic sci-fi-fantasy involving magic. But I plan to work out how people could really wield magic-like abilities through genetic engineering and cybernetic augmentation bestowed upon them by an extinct advanced civilization.

Thus, any extraordinary element of any story I write always has a basis in science, thus categorizing all of my writing as science fiction. Life is about possibilities, and real possibilities for the future get me excited. Vampires in our high schools? Not so much. And anyone who thinks that science yields dry writing obviously hasn't read anything of mine yet.
